These images are from a series of photographs called, "Around the House". Open edition. In producing these images I am trying to capture the intricate nuances of items found in our everyday existence. In this series I am using a technique called Polaroid lifts. Each image is unique and one of a kind. The technique used creates images with texture, distinguishing colour, and perfectly delicious flaws that give each print a distinctive look. I use the camera as a brush and film like canvas. In this series I layer images of the Costa Rican landscape with images of eyes found somewhere in the scene. I see this landscape ridden with the voyeuristic tendencies of humans, as well as other animals to admire the splendor of Mother Nature in her untouched beauty. These images were captured on the streets of New York shortly after 9/11. The moody richness of the grain laden black & white images are reminiscent of the somber cloud that hovered over the city at a time of great turmoil. These images are from a series of photographic collages called, "The Passion of the Mother". An edition of 100. I use the camera as a brush and film like canvas. In this series I layer digital images and scanned hand painted backgrounds, water colour paintings, and various delectable tidbits of paper found in many sources, like scrapbooks, cards, and magazines. I see this series, with its earthy and somber colour as representative of a world apart from humans, a world very dear to my heart.
